COURSE CURRICULUM

The Civil Engineering Technology program is structured to provide a progressive and comprehensive education over six levels, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills in design, analysis, and construction. In the first year, students build a strong foundation with courses in statics, mathematics, surveying, science, drafting, construction materials, and safety, alongside essential communication skills. In Level 2, they advance into CAD, mechanics of materials, estimating, and an introduction to water and wastewater systems, deepening their technical capabilities. By Level 3, students focus on applied civil engineering skills such as advanced CAD, highway technology, fluid mechanics, structural theory, and surveying, along with a general education elective. Level 4 enhances this learning through specialized courses in hydraulics, reinforced concrete and masonry design, GPS applications, land development software, and soils and foundations, with further project-based learning. In Level 5, students apply their growing knowledge in real-world scenarios, tackling subjects like structural design in wood, advanced soils and stormwater management, land development planning, traffic engineering, and a field-based survey camp, while beginning their capstone project. Finally, in Level 6, the program culminates with courses in steel design, contract administration, municipal water and wastewater systems, law and ethics, calculus, and completion of their capstone civil technology project. This rigorous training prepares graduates for a wide range of roles in civil engineering and sets them on the path toward CET certification.
