COURSE CURRICULUM

The Welding Engineering Technician – Robotics program is a comprehensive two-year diploma designed to equip students with the technical skills needed for careers in welding, automation, and robotics within the fabrication industry. At Level 1, students begin with foundational courses such as Computer Applications, Engineering Drawing Interpretation, and Trade Calculations, alongside core welding skills including Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Semi-Automatic Welding, Thermal Cutting and Brazing, and Welding Process Theory. This foundational knowledge is expanded in Level 2 with more advanced welding process theory, additional trade calculations, CAD for Fabrication Technology, and an introduction to Metal Fabrication. Students also develop expertise in welding quality, inspection, and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, enhancing their practical and theoretical capabilities. In Level 3, the program delves into specialized areas such as Introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers, CAD/CAM for Fabrication Technology, Trade Calculations III, Robotic Programming and Fundamentals, and Automated Welding Processes. This stage emphasizes the integration of robotics and automation in welding. The final Level 4 courses advance these skills with CAD/CAM for Fabrication Technology II, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Robotic Welding Programming, Welding Circuits and Controls, Metal Fabrication Materials and Quality, and Welding Robotic Maintenance, preparing students for the maintenance and programming of automated welding systems. Throughout all levels, students are required to complete elective general education courses to broaden their academic foundation. This program offers a blend of hands-on learning and theoretical study, ensuring graduates are prepared for high-demand welding and fabrication careers that incorporate modern robotic technologies and industry standards.
