COURSE CURRICULUM

Conestoga’s Game - Design program offers a detailed four-level curriculum that equips students with the skills needed to create engaging games, apps, and simulations for diverse industries. In Level 1, foundational courses include Narrative Design, Game Design, Sound Design for Games, Gameplay Programming I, Asset Creation, Media Studies for Game Design, College Reading and Writing, and an introduction to college life with Conestoga 101. Level 2 builds on this foundation with Data Focused Game Design, Interaction Design, Gameplay Programming II, Level Design I, Iterative Game Design, and Math and Physics for Game Design, helping students develop both technical programming and creative design skills. Level 3 introduces advanced topics such as Game Player Psychology, Dynamic Game Systems, Level Design II, Capstone I focused on early game production, Safety in the Workplace, and Artificial Intelligence Programming and AI Design, with a general education elective to broaden learning. The final Level 4 focuses on Technical Art, Gameplay Programming III, Capstone II – Game Studio, Portfolio Development and Presentation, and a Field Placement to provide real-world experience, alongside a general education elective. Throughout the program, students engage in individual and collaborative projects that mirror industry practices and build strong portfolios to showcase their work. The program’s blend of creative design, programming, and hands-on production prepares graduates for roles in game development, programming, and design, supporting a smooth transition into the gaming industry.
