COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechatronics – Industrial Maintenance program provides a comprehensive blend of electrical and mechanical training designed to prepare students for careers in automated manufacturing systems, industrial robotics, and system integration. In Level 1, students begin with foundational courses such as Electrical Safety and Code, Electrical and Mechanical Principles and Practices, Maintenance Strategies, and introductory Welding and Rigging, establishing the basics of industrial maintenance. Level 2 builds on this foundation with courses in Generic CAD (2D), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) I, Electrical Applications in Automation and Robotics, Instrumentation, Mechanical Applications in Automation and Robotics, and Welding I, equipping students with essential technical skills. At Level 3, the focus shifts to advanced electrical and mechanical topics, including Electrical Principles II, Electrical Practices II, Electrical Code II, Mechanical Principles II, and Mechanical Practices II, alongside workplace safety training. In Level 4, students explore Industrial Electronics, PLC II, advanced Electrical and Mechanical Applications in Automation and Robotics, and Welding II. This level also offers electives, a project with industry involvement, and a field placement in Millwright and Maintenance, providing valuable hands-on experience and real-world application of skills. The program covers all learning outcomes for Levels 1 and 2 of the Electrician and Millwright apprenticeship programs in Ontario, allowing graduates to potentially bypass these in-school apprenticeship levels. The optional paid co-op stream, not available for January starters, further enhances employability by offering practical industry experience. Overall, this program equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in industrial maintenance, combining electrical and mechanical expertise to meet the demands of modern automated industries.
