COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical Engineering Technician diploma program spans four levels, providing students with a comprehensive education in electrical systems and industrial automation. In Level 1, students build foundational skills through courses such as Electrical Principles, Electrical Skills I, Introduction to Digital Electronics, Mathematics I (Electrical), Drawing I, and Computer Applications, alongside essential communication and college orientation courses. Level 2 deepens technical knowledge with courses like Programmable Logic Controllers I, Electrical Fundamentals (Power), Electrical Skills II, Introduction to Instrumentation, Mathematics II (Electrical), Magnetic Circuits, and Drawing II, preparing students for more advanced concepts. In Level 3, students focus on applied and specialized topics including Programmable Logic Controllers II, Electrical Projects, DC Motor/Generator and Control, Industrial Power Electronics, Introduction to Photovoltaic Systems, and Safety Standards for Electrical Systems, alongside a general education elective to broaden their perspective. Finally, Level 4 covers advanced and professional practice courses such as Electrical Code, Power Transformers, Graphic Interface to PLCs, AC Motor/Alternator and Control, Embedded Design I, and Instrumentation for Electrical Systems, complemented by a general education elective. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience through labs and practical projects, developing skills in installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical and control systems. Graduates are prepared for diverse careers including CAD Technician, Electrical Installer, PV Installer, Quality Assurance, Field Service, Estimator, and Technical Sales roles. Additionally, the program fulfills academic requirements to become a Certified Technician (C.Tech.) through OACETT and provides pathways to further studies in Electrical Engineering Technology and Energy Systems Engineering Technology – Electrical, equipping students for success in the evolving electricity sector.
