COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business – Insurance diploma program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the insurance industry through a progressive four-level curriculum. Level 1 introduces foundational courses such as introductory financial accounting, business computing applications, personal finances, Canadian banking and financial services, business mathematics, and a mandatory general education elective. This level establishes essential skills in finance, computing, and mathematics, which are crucial for further study. Level 2 builds on this foundation with courses in organizational behaviour, introduction to economics, introductory financial planning, banking for individuals and SMEs, insurance fundamentals, and market analysis for banking, providing students with a broader understanding of financial services and insurance concepts. Level 3 focuses on specialized insurance topics, including applied ethics, essentials of loss adjusting, underwriting essentials, and essential skills for insurance brokers and agents, along with marketing and a general education elective. This level equips students with practical knowledge and ethical considerations critical to the insurance profession. Level 4 completes the program with advanced courses in insurance fundamentals, insurance on property, personal automobile insurance, insurance against liability, and another general education elective, preparing students for specialized roles within the industry.
