COURSE CURRICULUM

The Industrial Mechanic Millwright program is designed to provide students with comprehensive training in mechanical repairs and maintenance for the manufacturing industry. In Level 1, students begin by developing essential skills through courses such as College Reading & Writing Across Contexts and Conestoga 101, which build foundational communication and academic abilities. Technical training includes Blueprint reading for Millwrights, Applied Technical Mathematics, and Millwright Trade Theory and Practice, all of which are critical for understanding and executing mechanical tasks. Safety in the Workplace and Welding fundamentals ensure students are well-versed in maintaining a safe work environment while mastering essential fabrication skills. Moving into Level 2, students continue to build on these competencies with advanced Blueprint reading, Electrical fundamentals, and further Millwright Trade Theory and Practice courses. A significant component of Level 2 is the Field Placement (Mechanical Tech), offering hands-on real-world experience essential for bridging classroom knowledge with industry practice. Additionally, Welding II deepens students’ welding capabilities, enhancing their versatility as millwrights. The program thoroughly covers the learning outcomes for Levels 1 and 2 of the Ontario apprenticeship framework, allowing graduates to potentially bypass in-school apprenticeship training or exemption exams for these levels if they choose to pursue formal certification. Overall, this program equips students with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience necessary to thrive as industrial mechanic millwrights in the manufacturing sector.
