The program’s Level 1 courses lay the foundation for students pursuing careers in the mechanical and HVAC trades, focusing on essential skills and knowledge. Students begin by developing strong communication abilities through College Reading & Writing Across Contexts (COMM1085) and become familiar with Conestoga College’s learning environment in Conestoga 101 (CON0101). Mechanical Drawings I (IDRWG1585) introduces students to interpreting and creating technical drawings vital for mechanical installation and construction. In Introduction to Installation (MECH1910), students gain hands-on experience with basic installation techniques, while Introduction to Gas (MECH1920) covers fundamental concepts related to gas systems, preparing students for work in the gas and HVAC industries.Level 2 courses build on this foundation with advanced studies in Mechanical Drawings II (IDRWG1595), enhancing students’ proficiency in reading complex mechanical plans and schematics. HVAC Systems (GAST1220) deepens understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, vital for installation and maintenance roles. Mechanical Trade Practices (MECH1900) focuses on practical trade skills and industry standards essential for success in mechanical trades. Gas Regulations and Worksite Documentation (MECH1930) prepares students to navigate safety codes, regulations, and necessary documentation for gas-related work. Finally, HVAC Installation (MECH1941) offers hands-on training to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, equipping students with the technical skills and confidence to enter the workforce or advance in mechanical and HVAC careers.
