Conestoga’s Construction Techniques certificate program offers a comprehensive introduction to four essential trades over two levels, preparing students for careers in the skilled trades. In Level 1, students build foundational knowledge and skills in carpentry, electrical work, and construction math. Courses such as Carpentry Theory and Practice provide hands-on experience with framing, finishing, and other essential carpentry skills, while Residential Electrical Theory and Practice introduce electrical systems used in homes. Computer Applications and Conestoga 101 help students develop critical workplace and technical skills, and Math for Construction ensures students have the necessary mathematical foundation for trade-related tasks. Moving into Level 2, students deepen their understanding of print reading, HVAC mechanical systems, and welding, all critical for versatile trade work. Introduction to Print Reading develops the ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately, while HVAC Mechanical Systems Theory and Practice provide knowledge and hands-on training in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Welding Theory and Practice equip students with skills in various welding techniques and safety protocols. Additionally, College Reading & Writing Across Contexts supports communication skills essential for workplace success. This program’s blend of theory and practical application ensures students graduate with the confidence and abilities to pursue further trade education or enter the workforce prepared for a variety of construction-related roles.
