The Construction Techniques - Brick and Stone certificate program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for a successful career in masonry. In Level 1, students begin with Conestoga 101, an orientation to college life, followed by Masonry Safety, which emphasizes safe work practices essential to the trade. Masonry Theory 1 introduces foundational concepts in brick and stone masonry, while Masonry Practice 1 provides hands-on experience applying those techniques in a workshop setting. Mathematics for the Trades supports students in developing the practical math skills required for accurate measurements and calculations on the job. Moving into Level 2, students enhance their communication skills with College Reading & Writing Across Contexts, while Entrepreneurship introduces key business principles relevant to self-employment or managing a masonry business. Masonry Theory 2 builds on prior knowledge with more advanced topics in masonry construction, and Masonry Practice 2 offers continued hands-on training to refine technical skills and craftsmanship.
