COURSE CURRICULUM

The Building Superintendence and Repair program offers a comprehensive curriculum across two levels, designed to prepare students for effective building maintenance roles. In Level 1, courses focus on foundational skills essential for career success, including Career Discovery, Communication Essentials, and Introduction to Computers. Students also develop practical computer skills through Microsoft Applications for the Workplace and learn strategies for personal and academic success in Student Success Strategies. Human Resources in the Workplace and Math Fundamentals for the Workplace equip students with knowledge to navigate workplace dynamics and basic numeracy skills needed for maintenance tasks. Level 2 builds on this foundation with specialized courses such as Diversity, Ethics and Conflict Resolution, and Landlord and Tenant Law and Relations, which prepare students to handle interpersonal and legal aspects of building supervision. Technical skills are developed through hands-on courses like Building Systems Troubleshooting and Maintenance, Basic Plumbing Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, and Cleaning, Painting and Drywall Repairs. Workplace Safety ensures students understand essential health and safety protocols, while Recordkeeping and Sourcing Contractors teaches the organizational skills necessary for managing maintenance projects and working with external service providers. Together, these courses provide a balanced mix of technical knowledge, legal awareness, and soft skills, equipping graduates with the confidence and competence to manage building maintenance efficiently and professionally in diverse environments.
