COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bookkeeping program at Conestoga College offers a two-level curriculum designed to build foundational and advanced skills in accounting and financial management. In Level 1, students begin with courses such as Introductory Financial Accounting I, Personal Tax Returns, and Business Mathematics, which establish a solid base in financial principles and taxation. Complementing these technical courses are classes like Interpersonal and Group Dynamics and College Reading & Writing Across Contexts, which develop essential communication and teamwork skills. Business Computing Applications and Conestoga 101 introduce students to the technological tools and college environment, while a mandatory general education elective broadens the educational experience. Moving into Level 2, the program advances students’ knowledge with courses including Introductory Financial Accounting II, Introduction to Payroll Administration, and Advanced Personal Tax Returns. Additional courses such as Excel in Accounting and Cost and Management Accounting I provide practical expertise in financial analysis and software applications critical for bookkeeping roles. Accounting Applications I further enhances hands-on skills in industry-relevant software. Throughout the program, students gain a blend of technical accounting knowledge and practical skills, preparing them to manage financial records, payroll, and tax returns efficiently.
