COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computer Science program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop high-quality software developers equipped with practical skills and theoretical knowledge. In Level 1, students build foundational skills through courses such as Software Engineering Fundamentals, Computer Systems Architecture, Programming Principles, and Linear Algebra, complemented by Scientific and Technical Communications and Conestoga 101. Level 2 advances this foundation with Team-Based Software Development, Object-Oriented Programming, User Experience Design, Operating Systems and Security Fundamentals, Data Structures and Algorithms, and Group Dynamics. At Level 3, students deepen their expertise with Introduction to Database Systems, Software Quality I focusing on testing tools and methodologies, Computer Networks, and Systems Analysis and Design, alongside Project III which covers the Software Development Life Cycle, and Co-op and Career Preparation. Level 4 introduces advanced topics including Mobile and Networked Systems through Project IV, Software Design Techniques, Software Quality II focusing on User Experience Evaluation, Probability and Statistics, and Advanced Technical Communication. Level 5 includes the first paid Co-op Work Term, providing real-world industry experience. Level 6 expands technical skills with courses such as Parallel Computing Techniques, Software Quality III (Build and Release), Advanced Software Development in Project V, Introduction to Software Security, and electives like Introduction to Big Data and Network Security, along with a research course. Finally, Level 7 focuses on performance and efficiency with Software Quality IV, Project VI, Enterprise Application Development, and Analysis of Algorithms. This progressive curriculum integrates hands-on projects, research, and co-op opportunities to prepare graduates for successful careers in software development.
