COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Animation program offers a structured, multi-level curriculum designed to develop students’ artistic and technical abilities in animation. In the early levels, students focus on foundational skills such as storyboarding, life drawing, character design, and academic communications, along with an introduction to 3D animation and modelling. These foundational courses are complemented by classes in animation principles, body mechanics, and visual development to build a solid base. As students progress to intermediate levels, they engage in more advanced techniques including advanced life drawing, 3D modelling, lighting and rendering, and animation principles with an emphasis on body mechanics. Group dynamics and co-op preparation courses support professional development. At higher levels, students explore specialized subjects such as animating character performances, digital sculpting, rigging, compositing, and post-production, alongside studio management and entrepreneurship to prepare them for industry roles. A paid co-op work term offers practical, hands-on experience. In the advanced stages, courses focus on creature animation, senior animation projects, advanced rigging, game engine technologies, and emerging trends. The program culminates with a capstone animation project and portfolio development, which includes industry networking opportunities to help students transition into professional careers. This comprehensive curriculum balances creative artistry with technical proficiency and professional skills, preparing graduates for various roles in the animation industry across film, television, gaming, and other media.
