COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSc IT) major at Concordia University of Edmonton requires 45–60 credits and offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in computing. Core requirements begin with foundational courses IT 110 and CMPT 111, followed by key IT courses including IT 201, IT 210, IT 213, and IT 270. Students must also complete CMPT 211 or IT 202, and advanced coursework such as IT 302, IT 310, IT 331, and the capstone sequence IT 450, IT 451, and IT 452. Additionally, students complete 1.5 credits in IT 460 (internship) and 6–21 credits of unspecified senior-level IT or CMPT courses, including at least 3 credits at the 400 level. Supporting coursework includes MAT 120, either CMPT 260 or MAT 321, and 6 additional credits from MAT 114, MAT 151, or any senior-level math course. To enhance communication and interdisciplinary learning, students also complete 3 credits of English, DRA 252 (which supports presentation and communication skills), and one physics course (PHY 111, 121, or 131). Social science exposure is required through ECO 101 or 102, plus an additional 3 credits from social science or psychology departments (CNST, ECO, HIS, INDG, POEC, PSCI, PSY, SOC). The program also includes AIT 100. This carefully structured blend of IT, mathematics, science, and liberal arts equips students with a robust skill set, preparing them for careers in software development, cybersecurity, systems analysis, and more, or for further academic pursuits.
