COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Science major requires students to complete between 42 and 60 credits, beginning with foundational courses BES 107 and 108, ENSC 204, and either ECOL 208 or ENSC 208, followed by ENSC 227. Students must also complete advanced courses such as ECOL 318, ENSC 318, ECOL 319, or ENSC 319, along with capstone courses ENSC 475 and 485. Additionally, students must take 18 to 36 credits of unspecified senior-level courses within ENSC, ECOL, or EAS, with at least 12 credits at the 300- or 400-level to ensure depth in the field. Beyond the major-specific requirements, students are required to complete MAT 151 and either CH 101 and CH 102 or CH 261 to build a strong foundation in mathematics and chemistry. To encourage a well-rounded education, students must also take 6 credits in social sciences or psychology courses (such as CNST, ECO, HIS, INDG, POEC, PSCI, PSY, SOC), 3 credits in English, and an additional 3 credits from literature, languages, religious studies, philosophy, or fine arts disciplines. The AIT 100 course is also mandatory. While minors are allowed, the Environmental Science minor itself is excluded. Recommended complementary courses include ECO 101, ECO 369, and MAT 103. Students should consult course timetables carefully, as not all courses are offered every semester. The four-year Bachelor of Science degree demands a minimum of 66 credits in Faculty of Science courses. A typical full course load is 30 credits per Fall/Winter session, but taking fewer courses is allowed, though it may extend graduation timelines. A minimum of 9 credits per semester is required for full-time status, and some first-year courses are suggested for early registration to maintain steady academic progress.
