COURSE CURRICULUM

The 4-Year Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Concordia University of Edmonton requires 42–60 credits in the major, with a minimum of 66 credits from the Faculty of Science overall. Core chemistry courses include CH 101 and 102, CH 261 and 263, CH 211 and 213, CH 271 and 373, CH 331 and 332, CH 325, 6 credits from 400-level CH courses, and BIOCH 200. Students may also take up to 18 credits of additional senior-level chemistry electives. Supporting science requirements include 3 credits in Physics (PHY\*), MAT 114 and MAT 115, and either BES 107 or BES 108. Broader academic requirements include 6 credits in Social Sciences or Psychology, 3 credits in English (ENG), and 3 additional credits from the Department of Literature and Languages, Religious Studies and Philosophy, or Fine Arts. Students must also complete AIT 100. PHY 111 is not open to students who have completed Physics 30 or its equivalent. While Chemistry is excluded, students can pursue any other listed minor, with MAT 120, MAT 214, and 3 more credits in Physics strongly recommended. The full course load is typically 30 credits per academic year (15 per semester), but students may take fewer courses per term and still maintain full-time status with at least 9 credits per semester. A sample program is provided as a guideline, but flexibility is encouraged based on course availability and individual learning needs. Some courses are highlighted for first-year students who prefer a lighter course load in their initial semesters.
