COURSE CURRICULUM

The 3-year Mathematics concentration at Concordia University of Edmonton requires 27–33 credits and offers students a solid foundation in both theoretical and applied mathematics, preparing them for diverse academic and professional paths. Core course requirements include MAT 114 and 115 (Calculus I and II), MAT 120 (Linear Algebra I), and MAT 151 (Discrete Mathematics), followed by MAT 200 (Calculus III) and MAT 214 (Linear Algebra II). Students must also complete one 400-level mathematics course to gain exposure to advanced topics, as well as 6–12 credits of unspecified senior-level MAT courses to allow for academic flexibility and specialization based on individual interests. Supporting this mathematical core are interdisciplinary requirements: 3 credits in IT or CMPT to introduce computational thinking, 3 credits in English to strengthen communication skills, and DRA 252 to enhance public speaking and presentation abilities. Science requirements include one physics course (PHY 111, 121, or 131) and either ECO 101 or 102, plus 3 additional credits from Social Sciences or Psychology (CNST, ECO, HIS, INDG, POEC, PSCI, PSY, SOC). AIT 100 is also mandatory. Students must ensure that at least 42 credits come from Faculty of Science coursework. All minors listed in section 10.6 are permitted, excluding Mathematics. A sample course sequence is available to guide students, though they are encouraged to customize their path based on course availability and interests. A full course load is 30 credits per Fall/Winter session, but taking at least 9 credits per term maintains full-time status. Prioritized (+) courses are recommended for first-year students with lighter schedules.
