COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology major at Concordia University of Edmonton requires 42–60 credits, beginning with PSY 104 and 105, followed by PSY 211 (or an equivalent such as MAT 151 or SOC 210, with a minimum grade of C−; PSY 211 is strongly recommended). Core courses include PSY 311 and PSY 319, with 12 credits chosen from either PSY 223, 281, 307, 338, 341, 351, or 358, or from PSY 281, 307, 324, 338, 341, 351, or 358. Students must also take 6 credits from PSY 334, 339, 350, 359, 385, or 399, along with one course from PSY 275 or 367, one from PSY 420, 421, 431, or 435, and one from PSY 405, 406, 407, 408, 409, 410, 480, or 481. An additional 0–18 credits of senior-level PSY courses may be taken to complete the major. Beyond major-specific requirements, students must also complete 6 credits in English, 6 credits in courses from the Faculty of Science, and AIT 100. All minors listed in section 10.6 are permitted, except Psychology; WRI 300 is strongly recommended. A sample course sequence is available but flexible, as not all courses are offered every semester. Students are responsible for meeting prerequisites and planning their academic path accordingly. A full course load is 30 credits per academic year, but full-time status requires only 9 credits per semester. Those taking lighter course loads are encouraged to prioritize highlighted (+) first-year courses to ensure timely progress toward graduation.
