COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology concentration at Concordia University of Edmonton requires 24–30 credits, including PSY 104 and PSY 105, PSY 319, and PSY 211 (or an equivalent such as MAT 151 or SOC 210, with a minimum grade of C−; PSY 211 is strongly recommended by the department). Students must also complete 12–18 credits of unspecified senior-level PSY courses to fulfill concentration requirements. In addition, 6 credits of English courses and 6 credits from the Faculty of Science are required, along with AIT 100. Students may pursue any minor listed in section 10.6, excluding Psychology. Those interested in the 4-year BA in Psychology with Applied Emphasis, which includes a field placement component, are advised to consult an Admissions Advisor for proper guidance. While a sample program is available for reference, students are encouraged to customize their course sequence based on personal interests and academic goals, noting that not all courses are offered every semester. The normal full course load for Fall/Winter is 30 credits, but students are not required to take 15 credits per semester to maintain full-time status; 9 credits per semester is the minimum for full-time enrollment. Students who choose a lighter course load may take longer to graduate but are encouraged to prioritize highlighted (+) first-year courses to stay on track. Effective academic planning, understanding prerequisites and registration rules, and proactive course selection are essential to fulfilling degree requirements and successfully completing the program.
