COURSE CURRICULUM

The 3-year Bachelor of Arts (BA) concentration in Drama at Concordia University of Edmonton requires 24–30 credits of Drama-specific coursework designed to provide both practical and theoretical foundations in the performing arts. Core requirements include foundational courses such as DRA 101 or 102, DRA 149, and DRA 307, with additional specialized learning in one of DRA 325, 350, 353, or 383, and one of DRA 247, 252, or 352. Students also complete the capstone DRA 495 and 6–12 credits of unspecified DRA electives, with a maximum of 9 junior-level Drama credits allowed toward the concentration. Beyond Drama-specific courses, students are required to complete 6 credits of junior-level English (ENG), 6 credits from Philosophy, Religious Studies, Literature and Language (excluding English), or Fine Arts other than Drama—with PHIL, CLAS, MUS, or MUP recommended to enhance drama studies. Additionally, 6 credits are required from Social Sciences or Psychology (HIS or PSY recommended), as well as 6 credits from the Faculty of Science. AIT 100 is also a program requirement. While Drama cannot be declared as a minor in this program, students are encouraged to explore complementary electives such as ARTH, DAN, MUS, MUP, MGT, MARK, REL, or select ENG and WRI courses. Effective academic planning is essential, as students are responsible for ensuring prerequisites and registration rules are met. The program allows flexibility in course load per semester, with full-time status granted at 9 credits per term. This structure supports interdisciplinary growth while nurturing creativity and performance expertise.
