COURSE CURRICULUM

The Associate of Science Degree in Mathematics requires the completion of 20 courses (minimum 60 credits) at the first- and second-year levels, fulfilling all Associate of Science degree requirements. The curriculum includes foundational first-year courses such as MATH 113 (Calculus I), MATH 114 (Calculus II), and MATH 120 (Discrete Mathematics), which establish essential mathematical concepts and techniques. Complementing these are introductory computer science courses, CSCI 120 (Introduction to Computer Science and Programming I) and CSCI 125 (Introduction to Computer Science and Programming II), providing students with foundational programming skills and computational thinking. At the second-year level, students complete at least six courses (minimum 18 credits) across two or more subject areas, including three core mathematics courses: MATH 213 (Calculus III), MATH 225 (Analysis I), and MATH 252 (Linear Algebra and Differential Equations). These advanced courses deepen students’ understanding of mathematical theory, problem-solving, and applications. The program’s interdisciplinary approach ensures students develop critical analytical skills alongside practical computational abilities, preparing them for transfer to bachelor’s degree programs or careers requiring strong quantitative reasoning. This curriculum framework equips students with a solid mathematical foundation and the versatility to succeed in diverse fields such as mathematics, computer science, engineering, and applied sciences.
