COURSE CURRICULUM

The General Associate of Science Degree curriculum requires the completion of 20 courses totaling a minimum of 61 credits, including first- and second-year courses. The program mandates at least six second-year courses (minimum 18 credits) taken across two or more subject areas to ensure depth and breadth of study. First-year requirements include two English courses to develop critical communication skills, alongside foundational mathematics courses such as MATH 113 (Calculus I) or MATH 115. Additionally, students complete six courses in mathematics, science, or computer science, providing a broad exposure to key scientific and quantitative disciplines. To encourage interdisciplinary learning and well-roundedness, students must also take at least one social science or humanities elective outside of English. This diverse curriculum supports a strong foundation in core scientific principles while fostering analytical and problem-solving abilities through exposure to multiple academic areas. The program’s structure enables students to develop essential skills in scientific inquiry, logical reasoning, and effective communication. Graduates are prepared for transfer to bachelor’s degree programs in general science or related fields, equipped with the knowledge and versatility to pursue a wide range of scientific and technological careers or further academic specialization.
