COURSE CURRICULUM

The Associate of Science Degree in Computer Science requires the completion of 20 courses (minimum 60 credits) at the first- and second-year levels, fulfilling all requirements of an Associate of Science degree. The program begins with essential first-year courses including CSCI 120 (Introduction to Computer Science and Programming I), CSCI 125 (Introduction to Computer Science and Programming II), and CSCI 150 (Introduction to Digital and Computer System Design), which lay the foundation in programming, computer systems, and digital design. Mathematics is a critical component, with students completing MATH 113 (Calculus I), MATH 114 (Calculus II), and MATH 120 (Discrete Mathematics I) to develop analytical and problem-solving skills necessary for computing. At the second-year level, students must complete at least six courses (minimum 18 credits) in two or more subject areas, including three core Computer Science courses: CSCI 225 (Data Structures and Programming), CSCI 250 (Introduction to Computer Architecture), and CSCI 275 (Software Engineering). These courses deepen students’ understanding of software development, system architecture, and engineering principles. This curriculum framework ensures a balanced and rigorous education, equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Graduates are prepared to transfer to a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or pursue careers in software development, system analysis, and other computing fields.
