COURSE CURRICULUM

The General Associate of Arts Degree requires the successful completion of 20 courses (minimum 60 credits) at the first- and second-year levels, meeting all the core requirements of an Associate of Arts degree. The curriculum includes two first-year English courses, which develop essential academic writing and communication skills. Students must also complete three courses in Math or Science, which must include at least one course in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Statistics, and at least one Laboratory Science course to build quantitative and scientific literacy. Additionally, students are required to take six first-year Arts courses, with a minimum of two courses in the Social Sciences and two in the Humanities, offering a broad foundation in critical thinking and cultural awareness. To satisfy the degree’s upper-level requirements, students must complete six second-year Arts courses across at least two subject areas, encouraging depth and interdisciplinary engagement. The program is rounded out with three additional elective courses that may be chosen from Arts, Sciences, or other academic fields, giving students the flexibility to explore diverse interests or strengthen specific areas of study. Overall, this well-rounded framework prepares students for transfer to university and supports a variety of academic and career pathways.
