COURSE CURRICULUM

The General Management Diploma program at College of the Rockies is structured over two years, providing a comprehensive foundation in business principles and practices. In the first year, students take core courses such as Introductory Financial Accounting (ACCT 261 and 262), Principles of Management, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Technical and Professional Writing or English Composition, and a mathematics course focusing on Finite Mathematics, Business Mathematics, or Differential Calculus. Additionally, they complete courses in Advanced Professional Communication, Computer Applications in Business, and Statistics, totaling 30 credits for the year. The second year builds on this foundation with courses including Business Law, Managerial Accounting for Non-Accounting Majors, Business Ethics, and Principles of Marketing in the fall semester. Students also choose an elective from Business or University Studies courses, excluding ACCT 263. In the winter semester of year two, students complete Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Human Resource Management, Business Management Review, and Organizational Behaviour, alongside another elective course. Each semester in the second year accounts for 15 credits, bringing the total diploma credits to 60. This structure offers a well-rounded education that equips students with practical business knowledge, ethical perspectives, and management skills. The program also emphasizes flexibility through elective choices and prepares students either for immediate career entry or to advance their studies by transferring into the third year of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Sustainable Business Practices degree at College of the Rockies. This pathway supports diverse learning preferences with options for part-time, full-time, online, or face-to-face formats.
