COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Systems Technology diploma program is a two-year, 60-credit full-time course designed to prepare students for careers in IT by building strong foundations in programming, networking, system administration, and emerging technologies. In Year 1 Fall, students begin with 15 credits including Computer Systems Administration (CIST-101), Introduction to Programming (CIST-102), Website Development (CIST-103), and Introduction to Database Management Systems (CIST-104). These courses provide essential skills in managing computer systems, developing websites, understanding programming basics, and working with databases. The Winter term continues with another 15 credits through courses such as Introduction to Data Communication and Networking (CIST-105), Programming in C++ (CIST-106), Internet Programming and Web Applications (CIST-107), Software Analysis and Design (CIST-108), and Windows Administration 1 (CIST-109), offering more specialized knowledge in networking, programming, and software design. In Year 2 Fall, students complete 14 credits including Windows Administration 2 (CIST-201), User Interface Design (CIST-202), Algorithm Analysis and Data Structures (CIST-203), Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials (CIST-204), and Introduction to Cloud Computing (CIST-205), further advancing their technical competencies in system management, networking, and cloud infrastructure. The final Winter term consists of 16 credits with courses like Introduction to Computer Security (CIST-206), Windows Administration 3 (CIST-207), Enterprise Networking, Security and Automation (CIST-208), IT Development Project (CIST-209), and Emerging Technologies (CIST-210), emphasizing cybersecurity, automation, and innovation. This well-rounded curriculum ensures students graduate with the practical experience and theoretical knowledge needed to thrive as Computer Systems Technologists in various sectors such as business, government, healthcare, education, and law enforcement, and provides a strong base for further specialization or certification in the IT field.
