COURSE CURRICULUM

The MAST program spans two semesters and includes core courses such as Introduction to Adventure Tourism, Rock Climbing Fundamentals, Mountaineering Techniques, Whitewater Kayaking, Backcountry Skiing and Snowboarding, Avalanche Awareness and Rescue, Wilderness First Aid, Risk Management in Outdoor Activities, Leadership and Group Dynamics, Environmental Ethics, and Navigation Skills. Students participate in field trips and practical sessions in real mountain settings. The curriculum integrates industry-standard certifications, including those from the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides and Canadian Avalanche Association. Emphasis is placed on building technical proficiency, safety protocols, and sustainable practices. The program culminates in a capstone project or guided expedition, allowing students to apply learned skills in a professional context.
