COURSE CURRICULUM

The Kinesiology Certificate program is designed to be completed within one year, totaling 30 credits, and provides foundational knowledge in human movement, health, and exercise science. In the first semester, students take courses such as KNES 104: Introduction to Personal Health and Wellbeing, KNES 163: Physical Literacy for Life, and KNES 190: Human Anatomy, each worth 3 credits. They also select between ENGL 100: English Composition or ENGL 101: Introduction to Poetry and Drama, as well as choose either PSYC 101: Introduction to Psychology 1 or BIOL 101: Introduction to Biology 1, completing the semester with 15 credits. The second semester continues with courses focused on the mechanics and policies of kinesiology, including KNES 102: Introduction to Motor Skill Acquisition, KNES 103: Introduction to Biomechanics, KNES 110: Foundations of Exercise and Physical Fitness, and KNES 201: Sport and Health Policy in Canada, each for 3 credits. Additionally, students select either PSYC 102: Introduction to Psychology 2 or BIOL 102: Introduction to Biology 2, bringing the second semester total to 15 credits. Upon successful completion of these courses, students earn the Kinesiology Certificate, which offers a solid grounding for those interested in exercise science, health promotion, or related fields. This certificate also serves as a stepping stone for further studies in kinesiology diploma or degree programs, providing essential knowledge and skills that support a variety of career paths related to human movement, fitness, and health policy.
