COURSE CURRICULUM

The Engineering Certificate program at College of the Rockies provides a comprehensive foundation for students pursuing a career in engineering. The program is designed to prepare students for successful transfer to engineering degree programs at institutions like the University of Victoria (UVIC) or the University of British Columbia (UBC), with a focus on the essential first-year common core curriculum. During the Fall Semester, students begin with key courses such as Engineering Design, Chemistry for Engineering, Introduction to Programming in C and C++, Differential Calculus, and Introduction to Physics. These courses provide a well-rounded introduction to the core principles of engineering, combining theory and hands-on design experience. In the Winter Semester, the curriculum advances with courses like Engineering Statics and Dynamics, Integral Calculus, Elementary Linear Algebra, and a continuation of Physics. English Composition and Professional Communication are also emphasized, developing students' written and oral communication skills, which are critical for success in the engineering field. The Spring Semester further strengthens engineering competencies through Engineering Design 2 and Advanced Professional Communications, ensuring students are well-prepared to continue their studies or enter the workforce.
