ABOUT UNIVERSITY

The College of the Rockies is a public community college located in southeastern British Columbia, Canada, with its main campus in Cranbrook and regional campuses in Creston, Fernie, Golden, Invermere, and Kimberley. Serving a regional population of about 82,700 across a vast 45,000 square kilometer area known as the Rocky Mountain Trench, the college offers a wide range of programs including university studies, trades, health, tourism, computer technology, and fire services, both in-class and online. In 2010, it launched its first four-year degree program, the Bachelor of Business Administration in Sustainable Business Practices, marking a milestone in its 35-year development.Established in 1975 as East Kootenay Community College, it started with modest student numbers spread across multiple locations. The main campus in Cranbrook officially opened in 1982, followed by expansions and new campuses in Invermere, Fernie, Golden, and Creston throughout the 1980s and 1990s. The college changed its name to College of the Rockies in 1995 and introduced online courses in 1997. Since then, it has expanded facilities, including a trades building and academic spaces, and implemented modern technologies like campus-wide wireless networks. The college continues to grow and support the educational and economic needs of the region.
