ABOUT UNIVERSITY

College of the North Atlantic (CNA), formerly known as CONA, is one of the largest post-secondary institutions and skills training centers in Atlantic Canada. With a legacy spanning over 50 years, CNA serves approximately 25,000 students annually through nearly 100 full-time programs and more than 300 part-time courses. The college operates 17 campus locations across Newfoundland and Labrador, with its headquarters and Bay St. George campus based in Stephenville on Newfoundland’s west coast. CNA also has a history of international collaboration, including partnerships with universities in China and a former technical education initiative in Qatar. The institution functions under the authority of the College Act and plays a key role in regional education and workforce development. CNA is a recognized member of national and international organizations such as Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), and through this membership, it has committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Accord. The college's programs are designed to meet industry demands and support both academic and practical career pathways, making it a vital contributor to the economic and social development of Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond.
