COURSE CURRICULUM

The General Management Concentration in the Business Administration Diploma program at Coast Mountain College is designed for students who have already completed the Business Administration Certificate and wish to develop a broader, more flexible skill set in business leadership and organizational operations. This 30-credit concentration equips learners with both the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to manage teams, oversee projects, and contribute to strategic decision-making in a wide variety of business settings. The curriculum includes core courses such as Management Accounting (ACCT 252), which provides insight into financial decision-making and cost control from a managerial perspective, and Business Finance I (BFIN 250), which introduces key financial principles including capital budgeting, financial analysis, and planning. Students also take Organizational Behaviour (MGMT 251), a course that explores workplace dynamics, leadership, motivation, and team development, preparing them to effectively manage human resources and lead organizational change. In addition, students choose either Business Simulation (BSIM 250), which allows for experiential learning through real-world business scenarios, or Business Policy (BPOL 250), which serves as a capstone course focusing on strategic management and decision-making. To complete the concentration, students select 18 credits of 200-level Business Administration electives, allowing them to tailor their learning to personal career interests. One of these electives may be a 3-credit university-level course from outside the business discipline, providing additional interdisciplinary depth.
