COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting Concentration within the Business Administration Diploma at Coast Mountain College builds upon the foundational knowledge gained in the Business Administration Certificate program. This specialized stream is designed for students aiming to deepen their expertise in accounting and financial management while developing the analytical and decision-making skills necessary for success in the field. The program includes 30 credits of advanced coursework that covers a broad range of topics essential for accounting professionals. Students will complete Intermediate Financial Accounting I and II (ACCT 250 and ACCT 251), which focus on more complex financial reporting and analysis. Management Accounting (ACCT 252) explores internal business decision-making processes. The concentration also includes Business Finance I and II (BFIN 250 and BFIN 251), which provide a strong grounding in financial planning, investment analysis, and corporate finance. Personal Taxation (TAXN 250) introduces students to Canadian tax systems and practical tax return preparation. Additional courses such as Statistics (MATH 251), Organizational Behaviour (MGMT 251), and Management Information Systems (MGMT 280) ensure students gain well-rounded business and analytical skills. Business Policy (BPOL 250) integrates all areas of business into a capstone experience that challenges students to apply their knowledge strategically. This concentration not only prepares graduates for employment in accounting and finance roles but also lays the groundwork for pursuing further professional designations such as CPA.
