COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology B.Sc. Honours program at Carleton University requires 20.0 credits, with 9.0 credits included in the major CGPA. Students begin with foundational courses such as Introduction to Psychology I and II, followed by research methods and statistics in psychology. Core areas include human neuropsychology, cognitive psychology, social psychology, health psychology, forensic psychology, developmental psychology, personality, and organizational psychology. Advanced courses focus on design and analysis in psychological research, with opportunities to specialize through either a thesis or project stream. The thesis stream involves completing an honours seminar and a thesis, while the project stream combines upper-level psychology courses with a project. Additionally, students must complete upper-level psychology credits to deepen their expertise. Beyond psychology, the program requires 11.0 credits not included in the major CGPA, encompassing mathematics courses like Elementary Calculus and Linear Algebra, as well as foundational courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and geography. Science electives from other disciplines, science continuation courses, and upper-level courses in related fields such as biology, chemistry, earth sciences, mathematics, statistics, or physics are also required. To broaden academic experience, students complete free electives and courses outside the faculties of Science and Engineering and Design.
