COURSE CURRICULUM

Carleton University’s Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) Honours program with a Concentration in Global Health offers students the opportunity to explore the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of health within a global context. This 20.0-credit degree includes a 5.5-credit concentration that focuses on critical global health issues such as infectious disease, climate change, health inequities, and the influence of political and environmental factors on healthcare systems around the world. Students begin with foundational courses in health science communication, epidemiology, molecular pathology, and global health, then progress into advanced topics such as global health governance, pandemics, maternal and perinatal health, and Indigenous health in a globalized world. The program combines rigorous academic training with practical experience, including options for capstone research projects or field placements. Students may also select from electives in disciplines like nutrition, neuroscience, environmental health, pharmacology, and health policy, tailoring their studies to match personal interests and career goals. With access to summer research internships and hands-on learning opportunities, this program prepares graduates for impactful careers in international public health, healthcare policy, and humanitarian health work, or for further studies in medicine, global health research, or public health administration.
