COURSE CURRICULUM

Environment and Health is a 20.0-credit degree designed to equip students with a deep understanding of how environmental factors impact human health. Through a comprehensive and multidisciplinary curriculum, students gain foundational knowledge in health sciences, biology, chemistry, and statistics, while exploring key environmental health issues. The Environment and Health concentration focuses on the chemistry of environmental toxins, their physiological and genetic effects, and the body's immune response to such exposures. Students examine the broader health implications of pollutants, the health challenges posed by climate change, and the science behind environmentally linked diseases like asthma, cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders. The program includes advanced coursework such as Environmental Chemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Environmental Pollution and Health, providing a rigorous scientific perspective. Practical learning is emphasized through capstone research projects, field placements, and potential summer internships. Students also explore regulatory issues, public health policy, and the socio-economic dimensions of health, preparing them for diverse careers in environmental health, public health, policy-making, or graduate studies.
