COURSE CURRICULUM

The Musical Theatre program consists of three years of intense training and performance preparation, designed to develop the skills necessary for a successful career in the performing arts. In the first year, students complete 34.00 credits, including courses in acting (ACTR 100 and ACTR 101), musicianship (MUS 124), musical theatre (MUTH 116, MUTH 117), dance (MUTH 170, MUTH 171), and private vocal instruction (PMTI 100, PMTI 101). They also study technical theatre fundamentals (THTR 160) and complete an English or communications course (ENGL or CMNS 100-level). In the second year, students earn 32.00 credits with advanced acting courses (ACTR 200, ACTR 201), performance projects (MUTH 208, MUTH 209), musical theatre (MUTH 216, MUTH 217), and continued vocal instruction (PMTI 200, PMTI 201). The third year, which also consists of 32.00 credits, focuses on special skills for performers (ACTR 304, ACTR 305), graduation showcase (MUTH 302), and advanced musical theatre courses (MUTH 316, MUTH 318, MUTH 319). Students also refine their vocal skills (PMTI 300, PMTI 301) and dance techniques (MUTH 370, MUTH 371) in preparation for a professional career in musical theatre.
