COURSE CURRICULUM

The two-year Interaction Design diploma at CapU is structured across four terms. In the first term (15.00 credits), students take ENGL 100 (University Writing Strategies, 3.00 credits), IXD 101 (Digital Environment and Workflow, 3.00 credits), IXD 102 (User Experience I, 3.00 credits), IXD 103 (Visual Design I, 3.00 credits), and IXD 104 (Digital Typography, 3.00 credits). In the second term (15.00 credits), required courses include IXD 105 (Ideation and Design Thinking, 3.00 credits), IXD 106 (User Experience II, 3.00 credits), IXD 107 (Visual Design II, 3.00 credits), IXD 108 (Coding for Designers, 3.00 credits), and a Numeracy Elective (100-level or higher, 3.00 credits). The third term (15.00 credits) includes IXD 201 (Brand and Design Systems, 3.00 credits), IXD 202 (Design for New Technologies, 3.00 credits), IXD 203 (Motion and Interaction Design, 3.00 credits), IXD 204 (Business of Design, 3.00 credits), and an ENGL or CMNS 100-level or higher course (3.00 credits). In the fourth term (15.00 credits), students complete IXD 205 (Interaction Design Capstone, 3.00 credits), IXD 206 (Professional Development, 9.00 credits), and an elective (100-level or higher, excluding IXD courses, 3.00 credits).
