COURSE CURRICULUM

The curriculum includes a total of 29 credits over two terms. Key courses cover: Introduction to Health Care Assisting (theory and practice), Health and Healing: Concepts for Practice, Health Care Assistant: Introduction to Practice, Lifestyle and Choices, Healing 1: Caring for Individuals Experiencing Common Health Challenges, Healing 2: Caring for Individuals Experiencing Cognitive or Mental Challenges, Healing 3: Personal Care and Assistance, and practicum experiences in multi-level/complex care and preceptor-supervised practice. The program emphasizes hands-on skills such as personal care, assisting with mobility, nutrition, and medication administration, along with interpersonal communication, dementia care, and end-of-life care. Labs provide simulated practice, and clinical placements offer real-world application.
