COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Environment and Society (Environmental Studies) degree at Capilano University requires a total of 120 credits, offering a comprehensive curriculum that integrates interdisciplinary environmental knowledge with practical skills. The lower-level requirements include 42 credits in foundational courses such as Environmental Biology, Ecology, GIS, Environmental Ethics, Politics, and Statistics, along with electives focused on Indigenous studies and environmental anthropology or policy. Students also choose courses like Physical Landscapes or Weather and Climate to build a solid scientific base. The upper-level requirements consist of 18 credits, covering applied environmental stewardship, biosphere studies, interdisciplinary research, reconciliation, and global ecopolitics. Additionally, students complete 24 credits from selected modules that allow specialization in areas such as Applied Ecology, Biodiversity and Conservation, Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, or Urban Sustainability.
