COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program at Cape Breton University provides students with a strong foundation in key business disciplines through a carefully designed curriculum. In the first semester, students take ECON-1101 Microeconomics, which introduces them to the behavior of individuals and firms in decision-making and resource allocation. ACCT-1203 Introduction to Accounting I offers fundamental accounting principles and techniques necessary for financial reporting and analysis. MGMT-1601 Introduction to Business presents an overview of core business functions and contemporary issues in management. MGSC-1108 Introduction to Statistics equips students with the basic tools for data analysis and informed decision-making in business contexts. An elective course allows students to explore another area of interest, which may complement their business studies. In the second semester, ECON-1103 Macroeconomics expands their understanding of national and global economic systems, including economic growth, inflation, and monetary policy. ACCT-1204 Introduction to Accounting II builds on the first course, delving deeper into financial statements and accounting for liabilities and equity. MRKT-1301 Introduction to Marketing introduces marketing principles, strategies, and consumer behavior, laying the groundwork for more specialized marketing courses. MGSC-1109 Calculus for Business provides students with mathematical tools applicable to economics and finance, enhancing analytical skills. A second elective offers further flexibility and the chance to diversify their academic experience.
