COURSE CURRICULUM

BACS Anthropology (4-year) program at CBU is structured to provide a more advanced and in-depth understanding of anthropology with stronger emphasis on research, applied learning, and specialization compared to the 3-year route. In the first year, students take foundational courses covering the four main branches of anthropology including socio-cultural anthropology, archaeology, biological anthropology, and linguistic anthropology, along with general education electives to build academic writing and critical thinking skills. The second year develops methodological and analytical foundations through courses such as ethnographic methods, cultural anthropology, human evolution, and introductory research design, while also allowing students to choose electives that connect anthropology with related disciplines. In the third year, students move into more advanced and applied topics including global cultures, development anthropology, indigenous studies, and social research methods, with increased focus on case studies, fieldwork preparation, and analytical assignments. The fourth year is the most advanced stage, where students typically engage in higher-level seminars, independent or supervised research projects, and a capstone or honours-style thesis depending on academic standing. This year emphasizes synthesis of anthropological knowledge, data interpretation, and real-world application of research skills. The 4-year BACS program prepares students for professional roles in research, policy analysis, NGOs, cultural organizations, and international development, as well as providing a strong pathway to graduate studies in anthropology and related social science fields.
