COURSE CURRICULUM

Bachelor of Arts Community Studies (BACS) 3-year program is a 90-credit undergraduate degree completed in 3 years (6 semesters) full-time. The structure is not strictly “year-wise fixed courses,” but it follows a credit-based progression. In general, Year 1 focuses on introductory anthropology and sociology courses such as Introduction to Anthropology and Sociology, basic social science foundations, and general electives. Year 2 builds core disciplinary knowledge through courses in cultural anthropology, archaeology, biological anthropology, and research methods, along with supporting electives. Year 3 emphasizes advanced and specialized topics such as anthropological theory, applied anthropology areas, and community-based or research-focused courses, often including a capstone or senior-level project depending on chosen pathway. In the BACS format, students also complete a core set of Community Studies courses (like community research, reflective learning, and applied practice), an academic field specialization in anthropology, and additional career-related electives. The key distinction is that BACS is more applied and community-focused than the BA, meaning students also gain experiential learning and project-based work alongside classroom study. Overall, the 3-year BACS Anthropology curriculum is flexible, interdisciplinary, and designed to prepare students for applied careers or further studies in social sciences, research, and community development.
