COURSE CURRICULUM

Cambrian College’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program offers a comprehensive and rigorous eight-semester curriculum designed to prepare students for professional nursing practice and future academic advancement. The program begins with foundational courses in nursing, microbiology, anatomy, physiology, and scholarly writing, complemented by lab work and clinical readiness training. As students progress, they delve into health assessment, relational practice, and statistics, alongside increasingly complex clinical experiences. Mid-program, the focus shifts to chronic and acute illness, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and critical thinking, with hands-on labs and clinical placements reinforcing theoretical knowledge. The fifth and sixth semesters explore maternal and child health, family-centered care, mental health, public health, nursing ethics, research, and informatics, integrating a strong emphasis on community-based care and healing through reconciliation. The final year emphasizes leadership, health policy, global health, and interprofessional collaboration, culminating in two intensive practicum placements where students apply their knowledge in real-world healthcare settings. Across the entire program, students complete a total of 147 credits, with multiple degree breadth electives woven throughout. With a balance of academic excellence, clinical immersion, and interdisciplinary learning, graduates are well-equipped to pursue licensure as Registered Nurses and thrive in a variety of healthcare environments.
