COURSE CURRICULUM

The Honours Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting (HBBC) at Algoma University is a specialized four-year program designed to prepare students for careers in accounting, finance, and business leadership. Building on a strong foundation of core business courses from the first two years, the program's third and fourth years (semesters 5 to 9) focus on advanced accounting principles and strategic business skills. Students engage with key topics such as financial statement analysis, personal and corporate taxation, audit and assurance, management accounting, intermediate and advanced financial reporting, and management control. Complementing these technical subjects are essential business courses in strategy, decision models, artificial intelligence, international business, and entrepreneurship. A mandatory full-semester paid internship in the third year provides real-world industry experience, while final-year components like applied research methods, a seminar series, a leadership workshop, and an applied learning project deepen professional readiness. With integrated project management training and multiple degree breadth electives, the program supports both academic development and career preparation. Graduates of the HBBC program will be well-equipped to pursue CPA designation or enter diverse roles in accounting, financial analysis, or corporate governance, making them highly competitive in today's complex business environment.
