COURSE CURRICULUM

The Earth Sciences MSc program requires a total of 2.5 credits for completion, designed to provide both rigorous coursework and research experience. Central to the program is ERSC 5F90, the MSc Thesis course, which students must enroll in every term throughout their studies, culminating in a substantial research project that demonstrates independent scientific inquiry. In addition to the thesis, students must complete ERSC 5P95, a Graduate Seminar course that fosters scholarly communication skills through presentations and discussions within the academic community. The program also mandates the completion of two half-credit Earth Sciences courses at the 5(alpha)00 level or higher, with the possibility of substituting one course at the 4(alpha)00 level upon approval from the student’s supervisor and the Graduate Program Director. This flexibility allows students to tailor their coursework to their specific research interests and backgrounds. For students who require additional preparation in their specialized research areas, the program may require extra credits to ensure they acquire the necessary foundational knowledge.
