COURSE CURRICULUM

Students in this program are required to complete a rigorous set of courses designed to build a strong foundation in both economics and business. Core courses include ECON 5N11, which provides a Mathematics and Statistics Review tailored for economists, ensuring students have the necessary quantitative skills. They then advance through fundamental economic theories with ECON 5P01 (Microeconomic Theory) and ECON 5P02 (Macroeconomic Theory), which develop a comprehensive understanding of economic behavior at both individual and aggregate levels. Econometrics, covered in ECON 5P03, equips students with essential data analysis and modeling techniques crucial for empirical research. ECON 5P04 focuses on Research in Economics, preparing students to conduct independent investigations and contribute original insights to the field. The program culminates with ECON 5F00, the Major Research Paper, where students synthesize their learning in a substantial academic project. In addition to these core requirements, students must take two ECON half-credit electives to deepen their knowledge in specific areas of interest. Furthermore, students select one half-credit Business elective and an additional elective, either in Economics or Business, allowing them to customize their studies according to career goals.
