COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Psychology degree requires the completion of a thesis (PSYC 5A90) alongside a set of core courses tailored to each specialization. All students must enroll in PSYC 5F01, Research Methods and Data Analysis, during their first year, ensuring a strong foundation in research methodology. Students are also expected to regularly attend Departmental colloquia and consult with the Graduate Program Director and their thesis supervisor to carefully plan their academic program. Elective courses may be chosen from a wide range of graduate-level offerings within or outside the Brock Psychology Department, subject to approval by the Graduate Program Director. In the Behavioural and Cognitive Neuroscience stream, students complete the thesis, core course PSYC 5P10, and participate in two research seminars (PSYC 5Y51 and PSYC 5Y52), supplemented by an elective. The Lifespan Development specialization requires PSYC 5P20, two seminars (PSYC 5Y61 and PSYC 5Y62), plus an elective in addition to the thesis and research methods course. Similarly, the Social/Personality stream includes PSYC 5P30, two seminars (PSYC 5Y71 and PSYC 5Y72), an elective, and the core requirements. This structured yet flexible approach provides comprehensive research training and specialized knowledge, preparing graduates for further academic pursuits or professional careers in psychology.
