COURSE CURRICULUM

The Brock Philosophy MA thesis option requires the successful completion of a total of four credits, including the mandatory thesis course PHIL 5F90, which students must register for each term throughout their program. In addition to the thesis, students must complete PHIL 5F01, Philosophical Skills and Development, which helps build essential academic competencies. The program also requires four half-credit courses within the Philosophy curriculum, providing students with a broad and solid foundation in their chosen areas of study. Thesis candidates are permitted to take a maximum of one half-credit directed reading course, allowing for more personalized and focused study under faculty supervision. The program is typically designed to be completed within six terms, enabling students to engage deeply in both coursework and independent research. This structure supports the development of critical thinking, research skills, and original philosophical insight through the writing and defense of a thesis.
